Bee's Backyard

Mr. Purple Finch
This male Purple Finch is a permanent resident at my backyard feeders. His female counterpart and a gold finch lurk in the background.

I was so excited to see this precious little bundle of blue fluff one Sunday morning ~ a male indigo bunting! They are difficult to distinquish from a blue grosbeak, but my Missouri Conservation Agent friend confirmed for me that he's a bunting ... further down I've noted some of their identity differences.

I took this photo at Grant's Farm in St. Louis, MO. These magnificent bald eagles were wounded in their natural habitat and are are being housed and cared for as special guests, and I stood in awe of them..... made me all goose-pimply, inside and out.

Mr. & Mrs. Baltimore Oriole are out to lunch at my backporch cafe.

The white-crowned sparrow likes to hang out underneath hedges. He closely resembles the white-throated sparrow, who you'll find a picture of below.

The white-throated sparrow has a patch of white under his throat, gray breast feathers, and yellow lores.
